Pinto 2nd & 3rd Grade

Pinto baseball league is an instructional league which strives to teach 2nd and 3rd graders the fundamentals of baseball in a fun and competitive environment. The goal is to play as close to a real game of baseball as is possible within the physical abilities of the players in this age group.

This is a training league and the development of players’ skills; baseball IQ and sportsmanship are the prime goal of the managers and coaches. All registered players will play in every game they attend and managers will rotate players through a variety of positions.

Pre-season will include a team practice at The Yard led by IBA coaches. Practice times will be assigned once teams are formed and will take place in April.

The season also includes six weeks of IBA lead skills clinics which will focus on correct mechanics of hitting, catching, throwing and pitching. The skills will be reinforced throughout the season both in team practices and in game settings.

Following player evaluation, 2nd and 3rd grade players will be combined on teams via a draft. All efforts will be made to create balanced teams to ensure competitive games throughout the season.

Games will be played on a 9U size field as defined by LSFBL (bases 60’ apart and a pitching distance of 44’) and 9U bat rules will be enforced.
